Clinical Information

Nuclear protein in testis (NUT) is normally confined to the germ cells of the testis and ovary. A recently recognized cancer is NUT midline carcinoma (NMC), defined by the presence of chromosomal rearrangements involving the NUT gene on chromosome 15q14. NMCs are aggressive and highly lethal carcinomas that are very difficult to discern from other poorly differentiated carcinomas by morphology alone.
